Duck Hunting Season: May to Mid-August at Rancho

From May through mid-August hunters can expect excellent duck around Rancho Cristobal. This is a perfect way to add some variety and excitement to your stay. Hunters can plan to have the best duck hunting in the mornings. Afternoon hunts are also available, typically combined with another species.

About the Lodge

While you are here for the hunting, we invite you to indulge in our exceptional amenities during your stay at our new 18,000 sq ft, lodge.

Located in Santa Fe, Argentina guests typically fly into Buenos Aires. From here our staff will pick you up and transfer you to the lodge. 

You will enjoy delicious Argentinian cuisine using locally grown ingredients – some from our very own garden prepared by our master chef. 

After your hunt relax with a dip in the pool or a cocktail and cigar at the bar. Other amenities include a fitness room, treatment room, and more.

Duck Hunting FAQs

What is the best time for duck hunting?

Our duck season spans from May through mid-August coinciding with the ducks migration patterns. Please note, these are our winter months.

How many ducks can I expect to shoot in a day?

This can depend on a variety of factors such as weather conditions and individual’s shooting ability – but 1,000 a day or more is realistic.

What is the daily harvest limit?

Depending on species, you can expect between 25 and 40 ducks per day.

Do I need a license for duck hunting?

Hunters do need a license to duck hunt, and this will all be organized by the lodge. We are here to help take care of all your needs before you arrive.

What gear do I need?

Duck hunting occurs during our winter months which can mean more variable weather. Visit our gear page for more information on this, but the three most important items for ducks are:

  • Winter Camouflage clothing
  • Waterproof footwear
  • Ear Protection
How much experience do I need?

No experience is needed! This is an excellent hunt for all experience levels.

Day 1
Arrival at Santa Fe Airport typically mid morning, transfer directly to the field (1 hour drive) or to the lodge lunch depending on schedule with a late afternoon dove shoot, evening drinks and dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 2
Breakfast, morning dove shooting, lunch and/or siesta, afternoon dove shooting, afternoon dove shoot, evening drinks and dinner and an overnight stay.
